Old pictures…
Some years ago our society bought a copy of the von Knorring archive at the State Archive of Estonia. There are still a lot to do with it, but here You can see a sample on what we have received.
Once upon a time it was obviously usual to go to a professional photographer if You could afford a photo of Your family. Not only the depicted persons gives us a glimpse of the existence, but also the studio shows a bit of the manors and taste.
Here is Catharina von Knorring, after she was married to count Wassilij Adlerberg. Catharina was born at the Weissenfeld estate on the 19th of January 1837. From our family book, page 106 and tab. 153, we can also learn she served as lady in waiting

The Personerna persons on this picture are not identified. As the photo belongs to the same collection as the one above, it could maybe be assumed that the same Catharina is present here too, and as nr 2 from the left. By the help with the family book, the older stable lady could be her mother Catharina, born von Rüdinger in 1808 accompanied by two other of her 8 childrens, maybe Marie and Alexej. If we suggest that the boy to the right could be, say, 8 years of age on the picture, that would mathematically lead to the doughter Catharina being 18 and the mother Catharina 47 years old. About Marie, who could be the girl to the left on this photo, we have no other knowledge than she was born as the youngest children of the family, close to Alexej.

Maybe Catharina von Knorring, married Adlerberg on this picture too? A possible clue is the name of the photographer, L. Angerer. He (she?) was a well known photographer with his own studio in Berlin before 1900, and oftenly engaged by royalties, among many others.
